How to promote yourself as a Virtual Friend
How to promote yourself as a virtual friend
So you’ve become a Virtual Friend or curious about becoming one? Maybe you’re already a Virtual Friend but haven’t received the traffic you wanted or need more clients. As a Virtual Friend, promoting yourself can seem scary. There is something inherently sleazy feeling about saying “Here I am, come buy friendship services from me.”
But it doesn’t have to be that way.
If you have a service that other people need, you are doing them a disservice to not share it with them.
One of the biggest rules to being a Virtual Friend is not only publishing a Listing, but bringing your customers to you versus waiting for them to find you. Whether promoting yourself makes you feel uncomfortable or not at all, there are ways to do it effectively and ways that may turn other people off.
Virtual Friends sign up and post Listings on FriendPC everyday and it only makes it more competitive to stand out from the others. So we’ve made a quick guide to help you promote yourself as a Virtual Friend.
Understand the Art of Social Media
There are many ways to use social media to stand out as a Virtual Friend. While pursuing techniques on how to promote yourself as a Virtual Friend, never underestimate what social media can do for you.
Although posting a Listing on FriendPC will get exposure to subscribers already searching on the site, we found out that bringing your customers to you proved to be a greater technique our top Virtual Friends used. Between Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, Pinterest, or whatever other platform that works for you.
The most important thing is your personality and by displaying it through social media, you will be a top ranking Virtual Friend. It is well known that social media is a very powerful tool in marketing your business and you can have really good results if you know how to use this tactic.
Be active in several social networks by joining groups, discussions or forums that pertains to your ideal customer. If you are looking for people who need a friend, a tutor or a Life Coach, search for those online resources where people dwell and leave your comments.
Give your opinion about topics, talk about your experience in what you can offer and let them feel comfortable with you. Make recommendations, even recommend yourself as a Friend they can outsource to. This is a great way to promote yourself, you will get visits to your profile and even go viral.
There are some ways to upload videos in You Tube to give people an idea of who you are and the services you can provide. Your You Tube videos can be about you talking about personal life experiences, your hobbies, or about giving some advice.
Facebook – Facebook is a social networking website that allows you not only to connect with people you met, but also a wide range of groups of people who are looking for the services you may be offering. Whether it is people looking for friends or companions, people looking for friends to travel with, or simply looking for a tutor or Life Coach, Facebook will most likely have an audience for it.
By joining a Facebook group, engaging with the community, answering questions and raising your awareness, it makes people trust you more if you were to suggest they visit your profile and purchase one of your Listings. If you feel uncomfortable with using your real Facebook account, create an alias account and mark that as your Virtual Friend account you can use to connect with potential customers.
Snapchat – Snapchat is a popular messaging app that you can use to advertise your social life while also engaging with customers who pay you the price you want. Head to the beach, go on a hike, visit your cam friend, go sightseeing, ask random people in the street their opinion on your butt… just do something that is an activity.
We only ask that for privacy consideration, turn off you Snapchat Location because Snapchat has location tracking turned on by default. This poses a privacy risk for Virtual Friends. If you’re using Snapchat for promotion (or premium) be sure to turn the location sharing off.
Visit FriendPC Chat Room and Interact
You do not have to charge for all of your communication services. You can give sneak previews of your personality by visiting FriendPC Chat Room and interacting with potential customers there.
Communicate with the group and when they feel comfortable with you, let it be known that you have Listings to offer. The nicer you seem, the more customers you’ll gain. If someone says hi, say hello back! Open up your chat to a Q&A session, this will get lots of posts up and let your potential customers get to know you.
Don’t Over Promote Yourself and Your Services
Don’t over-promote yourself: we all love the publicity that comes from Social Media, and of course the money that comes with it. Sometimes this will lead to Virtual Friends who over-promote themselves (a.k.a. putting a link to their website/social media on EVERY single post they make.) The goal is to mutually benefit from the ease of getting yourself out there by advertising and socializing yourself.
First Impression Matters
On FriendPC, people will judge the book based on its cover. In other words, presentation is EVERYTHING when you are posting Listings on FriendPC and your own personal profile. Post bad pictures will only make potential customers assume you are not organized or professional.
Write a bad description of your Listing and it will make potential customers think you do not take being a Virtual Friend seriously. A key we like to suggest when writing your description is to answer the following questions:
- What services are you offering for your Listing type
- What is your background in that service
- What credentials or experience do you have
- What kind of customers can you connect with
- What can your customers expect to receive upon service completion
The goal of your Listings is to show out your personality and make yourself more than just a face that Clients are looking through. You want to build yourself or your work as a brand that people can relate to and feel comfortable with purchasing.
Your profile page is very important. Having good photos will help you stand out and attract potential customers. This is especially true for the avatar / profile photo, as that’s what usually appears in search and on category pages. If the site displays a live camming show preview, it’s important to remain on camera and not look bored or boring.
Other points to keep in mind that can help you are:
Share a Story – Throughout history, stories have inspired, educated and helped people in some way. When I posted a Virtual Friend Listing, instead of simply posting:
“I will be the best virtual friend I can be for you!”
I took the opportunity to share the things about myself. I did this as a post in a Facebook group I’m a part of and made it my description for that Listing.
I showed 3 main things about my background (traveled the world, had over a dozen horrible relationships, focused on becoming a better version of myself) and showed how it improved my lifestyle. I talked about the fears I had in my experienced in this past events and how I can relate to anyone suffering from those issues too.
Share your story generously, without expectations and the result might end up surprising you.
Be of Service – Being of service to potential clients is the best promotional strategy there is in my experience. In fact, even being of service to everyone can have amazing effects. Because it’s not just your potential clients you will get work from. It’s the connections you make and the people you help that will refer you. There’s nothing better than referrals, and people only refer nice people, especially helpful ones.
The ways to be of service are endless. Instead of spending mindless hours scrolling through feeds on social media, do it intentionally. Constantly ask yourself, how can I be of service online today. What helps is answering people’s questions on social media, give advice from your experience and offer words of encouragement.
Take the conversation into private message. Offer to help in more detail than you could typically do in a Facebook comment, for example. The more you give, the more you’ll receive. In clients, referrals, and profit.
The key to self-promotion: The more you give, the more you’ll receive
Ask For Reviews – One of the best ways to know your strengths and weaknesses as a Virtual Friend is by asking for feedback for your services. Where were you great at as well as where were you weak at. The goal as a Virtual Friend is to improve your services so you can be the best at it and obtain more customers who will refer your services to other people.
